With the gradual change in the weather, you must take extra care of your tresses. Here’s what you can do to protect your hair:

Opt for a cap, shawl or scarf to cover your head when you step out. Winds create tangles that can become a nightmare to remove.

Using a conditioner is most important in the chilly months. Use one as often as possible after washing your hair and pour some cold water on your hair after applying a conditioner to lock in moisture.

Avoid stepping out of the house with damp hair. Hair is at it’s weakest when wet and will break easily.

If you use hair tongs, blow dryers or curling irons regularly, it’s time to give them a break. Let your hair dry naturally instead or use a leave in conditioner if you simply can’t do without your blow dryer.

Even though a hot water bath is what you’d prefer, try to wash your hair is lukewarm of cold water. Hot water will dry your hair and make it look unhealthy.

Using hair products like gels, sprays or mousse, which have alcohol content will dry out your hair. Avoid them.

Hair styling products should never be applied directly on the scalp. This clogs pores and damages your hair.

Use a comb or a brush that has big spaced bristles and gentle tips. Combs that have sharp edges can damage your hair and scratch your scalp.

Avoid coloring your hair or streaking, perming or bonding your hair. These treatments can make your hair unmanageable if not done correctly.
