How To Take Care Of Your Hair During Monsoon

Monsoon is a time when the climate is humid and this effects our hair in many adverse ways. Little extra care is required in order to maintain their health and shine.

Instructions

Step 1

Wash your hair almost every alternate day with a good shampoo. But do not forget to apply conditioner after the wash. Conditioner should be applied in adequate quantity to wet hair: leave it for few minutes and then rinse properly. This adds shine to your hair and avoids the hair from getting frizzy.

Step 2

Oil your hair regularly. Try to heat the oil a little before applying it. Oil should always be applied with the tips of your fingers: avoid using the palms as it causes formation of split ends and might lead to hair fall. Oiling the hair regularly i.e. at least twice a week helps the hair to remain healthy and prevents them from drying.

Step 3

A good way to avoid hair fall and frizziness in the hair caused due to the humid and moist weather: is to heat olive oil and add few drops of liquid inside vitamin E capsule.

Step 4

Applying a pack of yogurt and egg is helpful in maintaining the strength of the hair and is a natural conditioner for the hair.

Healthy Hair Care Tips

Healthy Hair Care Tips

Maintaining healthy hair is a matter of treating it like pure silk [and it never hurts to sleep on a satin pillowcase for total smoothness]. Follow these tips for shampooing, blow drying and general care for ultra healthy hair .

Daily Hair Care Tips

For healthy hair, shampoo it every other day [or even every third day] with a gentle cleanser thats designed for color treated hair if needed. Hair is fibrous, like cotton. If you wash a cotton T-shirt every day, it will fade and become ratty. The same goes for your precious locks.

Prior to shampooing , while still dry, run a paddle brush through your hair 20 times from root to tip, stroking it in all different directions and paying special attention to the scalp [this stimulates hair growth and blood flow and relieves flaking or itching].

Always comb your hair [dont brush it] when wet, use a gentle detangling motion and wear soft rubber bands that wont snag. Even in a pinch, never use the rubber band thats tied around your daily newspaper subscription since it causes serious breakage. Horrors!

When you emerge from the shower, don’t wrap your hair in a towel/turban for more than 5 minutes. The towel/turban will draw out moisture, opening your freshly conditioned, closed hair cuticle and creating a “rough” or frizzy look Your hair will not be able to dry totally smooth and it can appear dull and frizzy.

After towel drying your hair, use a paper towel to blot or wring out your hair again. This additional step pulls out moisture without roughing up the cuticle and ensures that the hair will dry faster—with less heat and increased strength and shine.

Prior to blow drying your hair, apply three small drops [use less for short hair] of detangling serum to keep the cuticle closed. Rub the serum in the palm of your hands and apply in downward strokes from mid-shaft to ends [do not apply it to your scalp]. Apply two more small drops when the hair is almost dry or before using a flat iron. Finish with one more drop, applied in a downward motion from mid-shaft to ends, to add shine when you’re finished blow drying

How To Take Care Of Black Hair

1. Wash your hair with shampoos and other hair care products that will add the natural oils in your hair. Go for brands that are specifically made for black hair.

2. Always use a conditioner after shampooing. It is better to use a separate shampoo and conditioner, as two in ones are not suitable for black hair.

3. Instead of rubbing the hair for drying, it is better to press the hair dry, as this is gentler on the hair.

4. Prevent damage to your hair by using a wide toothed comb. Comb as often as you can to increase the blood circulation in the scalp and also to spread the natural oils.

5. Have a regular haircut to prevent the spilt ends.

6. Use, gel, or hair sprays at the root of your hair to give it a lift. Stay away from elastic bands, which can pull and break your hair.

7. Once a month go for a hot oil treatment, which will help the black hair from being brittle. It also acts as a lubricator.

8. Make sure you shield the hair by using a protective product, when you use hot combs or curling tongs.

9. To maintain the moisture balance and help eliminate a dry scalp, use a softening shampoo for braided black hair.

10. Lime is very good for black hair. Wash your hair in limejuice three times a week. Apply the limejuice in the roots of the hair, keep it for ten minutes, and then shampoo it.

11. Apply henna at least once a week. Mix the henna powder in water and keep overnight preferably in an iron vessel. Next day, add one egg white and apply it to the hair and the roots. Keep it for drying. Wash with water once dry. You can also mix curd in the henna if you have dandruff problems.

12. Apply curd on the scalp and leave it for ten minutes. Wash it with a mild shampoo. It nourishes the hair and conditions it.

13. Drink plenty of water and have a healthy balanced diet. Water intake gives the hair the much-needed moisture, which helps in maintaining their natural color. Minimize the stress level and do exercise two to three times a week.

Hair Care Shampooing and Conditioning

Hair Care Shampooing and Conditioning

Most people want their hair silky and shiny. No matter what the type of hair they have be it straight curly long short oily dry thin or thick all want their hair to look good and manageable.

Shampooing

To shampoo is to wash cleanse or remove all dirt or other impurities from the scalp and hair by the process of shampooing. The selection of the shampoo should depend upon the hair type. Egg shampoo is good for dry hair but avoid products which contain alcohol as they will dry out the hair even further. Look for shampoos that contain oils like coconut. Moisturizing type shampoos tend to coat the hair and trap the moisture inside the hair shaft. For oily hair use some mild shampoo. Care should be taken while using shampoo. Do not scrub or over massage. It is better to rinse
thoroughly with Luke warm water. If the hair is too oily add lemon juice in Luke warm water and rinse. The best shampoos to use for this type of hair is clarifying shampoos. Look for shampoos that contain panthenol. Volumizing shampoos are mild in nature because they are formulated for everyday use but contain additives for bounce and body. Shampooing can be done as often ideally every alternate day as required to keep the hair clean and healthy as long as you condition regularly. Switch shampoos once a month to avoid hair buildup.

Method of Shampooing

Prepare the hair for shampooing. Before wetting your hair for shampooing comb through with a wide toothed comb to prevent tangles. Mix and adjust the water flow. Mix the water to a comfortable temperature. Wet the hair and scalp thoroughly. Apply the shampoo to the hair by first pouring it into your hand and never directly. Apply with the hands and fingers massage firmly in rotating and circular movements. Massage the whole head. Rinse the hair and scalp thoroughly and carefully. Apply more shampoo and massage for the second time if needed finally rinse all shampoo from the hair and scalp with clean water. Finally check the hair lines and make sure that the dirt and shampoo has been removed from hair and scalp. Dry the hair gently. Dont rub just blot the wet hair with a towel and then smooth the towel along the length of your hair. Avoid blow drying as far as possible. If you shampoo regularly there is no need to lather twice.

Conditioning

A conditioner is to hair what a moisturiser is to the skin and it used after shampooing. All types of hair have to be conditioned to keep it shiny and flexible. Conditioning is specially useful for dry hair. It adds to the natural oil supply and gives dry hair shine as well as bounce and strength. For oily hair use conditioner only on the ends of your hair .

Method of Conditioning

1. After shampooing gently squeeze the excess water.
2. Comb the hair with the fingers or with wide toothed comb from the roots to the ends gently. Remove tangles.

Summer hair protection

Summer hair protection

Summer is here and with it come all sorts of fun outdoor things to do. It is also that time of year when we encounter the highest percentage of damaged hair some of it beyond repair.

Here are a few tips that may save you a lot of heartache and money.

1. Stay away from hair lightening products

Most contain some form of peroxide or metallic crystals and can cause severe damage to your hair not to mention such undesirable effects such as orange green or pink hair. Worse if the product does contain metallic crystals and you then perm your hair it may literally turn your hair into mush and wash down the drain.

Although a chelator [an ingredient in some shampoos] can help remove some of the metals residing on the hair shaft they are not strong enough to remove metal deposits that have penetrated the shaft. The only chemicals that we know of that will do this are chemicals used in the development of film. These chemicals are highly toxic and we do not recommend that you mess with them.

Bottom line just let nature do its own thing or invest in a highlight. In the long run the highlight will be far less expensive than a color correction.

2. Use a hair conditioner that contains a sunscreen

If you cant find one and you are heading out to swim or tan simply massage some of your sunscreen into your hair it should wash out.

If you are not going to use a sunscreen because you want a deep tan quickly try using safflower oil. It provides your hair with much needed fatty acids and makes a great tanning oil to boot.

3. After a day at the pool clarify your hair

A clarifier is a stronger shampoo designed to remove toxins from you hair such as auto emissions and other environmental pollutants as well as build up from some ingredients in over the counter shampoos such as silicon. A clarifier is too strong to use daily but once or even twice a week is okay. It should also help remove chlorine from your hair but if you are at the pool daily you will need to invest in a special shampoo to control chlorine.

Avoid green hair before it begins. Thoroughly wet your hair before you dip in the pool and add a bit of conditioner too. Wash your hair immediately upon exiting the pool BEFORE YOUR HAIR HAS A CHANCE TO DRY. These precautions alone will go a long way toward dodging the swamp look.

Although not exactly a fashion statement you can always wear a bathing cap too.

If you already have the Greenies you can look around for a shampoo called Malibu 2000. It may or may not work. You can also try soaking your hair in tomato juice cap it and let it sit on the hair for about twenty minutes then rinse shampoo rinse and condition the hair.

These few tips should see you well through the summer and leave you with fond memories instead of bitter tales.

Summer Hair Care Tips

Summer Hair Care Tips

Summer may bring glorious visions of natural highlights and long windblown hair. The reality is that summer sun and humidity can damage your hairs cuticle and result in dry, drab, split, brittle or frizzy hair and ends.

Sunlight can be just as damaging as a super hot blow dryer. Naturally curly hair is often a major victim to summer frizzies.

Consider some of these other tips for great summer hair care:---------

1. Prevent static electricity when you shampoo by applying a rinse out hair conditioner that instantly adds moisture and shine. If your hair is fine or thin, you may wish to skip the rinse out conditioning step and apply a leave-in conditioner instead.

2. After towel drying tresses apply a drop or two of a great leave-in product, like , to the palms of your hands. Rub your hands together and then distribute the leave-in product throughout your strands.

3. Hair care products which advertise replenishment are designed to add moisture back to dry strands. Products advertising volume enhancing benefits are designed to add body.

Hair care products designed to add shine, may only add shimmer, but not necessarily add moisture. Be sure to read all ingredients on the hair product labels to understand what benefits the product is designed to provide to your strands.

Consider these additional summer hair care tips:----------

If you normally use hot hair tools [blow dryers, hot irons, electric curlers] every day, try and give your hair a break during the summer months. Consider letting your air dry. Take a break from hot curling.

Hair braided when wet will air dry into beautiful waves.

For sun exposed or sun damaged tresses perform regular deep hair conditioning treatments utilizing fabulous hair repair products such as Phytokarite Intensive Treatment, Phytocitrus Mask or Rene Furterer After Sun Repair Mask.

Jojoba oil applied to the ends of your strands will help soften them. Jojoba oil also works wonders on frizzy hair. Jojoba oil can also be utilized as a pre-shampoo treatment or applied to dry strands for protection during the day.

For extra conditioning treatment apply a deep conditioner to damp or dry tresses, wrap in plastic wrap or a shower cap just before bedtime. Allow the deep conditioner to soak into damaged hair sections overnight for extra repair and re-moisturizing benefits.

When you find yourself out in the sun, at the beach or at the pool without pre-planning, reach for a hat to cover delicate strands. If a hat wont do, great the next best thing which is the sunscreen.

Slather a regular SPF product on your tresses making sure to concentrate the product onto your scalp as well as your tresses. Although not a perfect solution, it will help save your tresses from major sun damage.

If you are wedded to your blow dryer, use a leave- in conditioner designed to protect your hair when blow drying.

When the summer heat is hottest contain potential frizzies by wearing your hair up in a knot, bun or braids.

Be careful using shine products to control frizzies. They often contain silicone and can coat your hair after just a few times. This will only make the problems worse in the long run.
